Privacy Policy
In short: Depth Lock Screen does not ask you to create an account, does not show ads and does not sell your data. Your notifications, photos, lock code and settings stay on your phone. We use Google Firebase to understand which features are used and to fix crashes.
This policy explains what information the Depth Lock Screen app (“the app”, “we”, “us”) uses, why, and the choices you have. By using the app you agree to this policy. If you have questions, write to us at appxcodehelp@gmail.com.
1. Information that stays on your phone
The app needs some information to work as a lock screen. It is used only on your device and is never sent to us or to anyone else.
- Notifications – with your permission (Notification access), the app reads your notifications only to show them on the lock screen and to let you open or dismiss them. They are kept in memory while shown and are not saved or uploaded.
- Music and media playback – the same permission lets the lock screen show what is playing and control play, pause and skip. This information is not stored or shared.
- Your PIN or pattern and recovery answer – if you turn on the app lock, your code and your recovery answer are stored only as a salted, one-way hash (never as plain text). They are excluded from Android backups and never leave your phone.
- Your own photos – if you choose a photo as a wallpaper, you pick it with the Android photo picker; only that photo is copied into the app’s private storage. The app never browses your gallery.
- Depth effect – to place the clock behind the subject of a wallpaper, the app cuts out the subject using Google ML Kit, which runs on your device. The image is not uploaded for this.
- Settings and favourites – your clock style, colours, layout, favourites and similar settings are saved on your phone. Android may include them in your own device backup (except the lock code, as above).
- Sensors – the gyroscope (for the parallax motion), the proximity sensor (for pocket mode) and battery status (for the lock screen) are read live and are not stored.
2. Information collected automatically
We use Google Firebase services to keep the app working well. These services collect limited technical information from the app:
| Service | What is collected | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Firebase Analytics | App usage events (for example: a wallpaper was opened or applied, a favourite was added, the theme was changed, the rating you chose in the app), the chosen clock style, a random app-instance ID, device model, Android version, app version, language and an approximate region (country/city level, derived from the IP address). | To understand which features and wallpapers are popular and improve the app. |
| Firebase Crashlytics | Crash reports and errors: the state of the app when it crashed, recent in-app steps, device model, Android version, app version and a random installation ID. | To find and fix crashes and bugs. |
| Firebase Remote Config | A random app-instance ID and basic device/app details needed to deliver settings. | To update content such as banners, categories and links without an app update. |
This information does not include your name, phone number, contacts, messages, notifications, photos or lock code, and we do not use it to identify you personally. Google processes it as our service provider under the Google Privacy Policy and the Firebase privacy information.
3. Wallpapers and content
Wallpapers and app content are downloaded over a secure (HTTPS) connection from our content servers and content-delivery networks. Like any website, these servers receive your device’s IP address and basic request details to deliver the files. We do not use this to identify you.
Google Play services may download the on-device ML Kit model used for the depth effect, and may collect limited diagnostic information about it as described in Google’s terms.
4. Permissions and why we ask
- Notification access – to show your notifications and music controls on the lock screen.
- Display over other apps – to show the lock screen and keep it on top until you unlock.
- Notifications – Android requires a small ongoing notification while the lock screen service runs.
- Run at startup, foreground service, wake lock, disable keyguard – to start the lock screen after a restart and show it whenever the screen turns on.
- Internet and network state – to download wallpapers and app content.
- Vibration – for touch feedback.
- Camera shortcut and torch – the lock screen can open your camera app and turn the flashlight on or off. The app itself does not take, see or store pictures.
You can turn any of these off in your phone’s settings; some lock screen features will then stop working.
5. Feedback you send us
If you choose to send feedback, your email app opens and the message goes to appxcodehelp@gmail.com. We receive your email address and whatever you write, and use it only to reply and improve the app.
6. Sharing
We do not sell, rent or trade your information, and the app contains no advertising. Information is shared only with the service providers listed above (Google Firebase, Google Play services, content delivery) to run the app, or if required by law.
7. How long information is kept
- Information on your phone stays until you delete it, clear the app’s data or uninstall the app.
- Firebase Analytics data is kept for the retention period set in our Firebase project (user-level data is deleted automatically after that period).
- Crashlytics crash reports are kept for up to 90 days.
- Feedback emails are kept only as long as needed to answer you.
8. Your choices and rights
- Revoke permissions at any time in Android Settings.
- Delete everything stored by the app with Settings → Apps → Depth Lock Screen → Storage → Clear data, or by uninstalling the app.
- Ask us to access or delete analytics data linked to your app installation, or ask any privacy question, by writing to appxcodehelp@gmail.com. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act), you may have further rights, such as correction, objection or complaint to a data protection authority.
9. Security
We use HTTPS for all downloads, store your lock code only as a salted hash, keep it out of backups, and keep the app’s files in Android’s private app storage. No method of storage or transfer is completely secure, but we work to protect your information. The app lock is an extra layer and does not replace your phone’s own screen lock.
10. Children
The app is not directed to children under 13 and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
11. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy when the app changes. The new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date. Important changes may also be announced in the app.
